Methodology & ratings
Our product pages name brands and flag ingredients. Here is exactly how we form those views, and the lines we hold so the reporting stays honest and fair.
We report opinion grounded in cited fact
Our product assessments are editorial opinion, formed from publicly available ingredient lists, manufacturer safety data sheets, and the named sources on each page. We do not claim any product is unlawful, adulterated, or causes disease.
Every concern is sourced
When we flag an ingredient, we name who flagged it: the EPA, FDA, CDC, EWG, NPIC, peer-reviewed work in PubMed, or the manufacturer’s own disclosures. If we cannot source a claim, we do not publish it.
We rate concern, not "toxicity"
Our low / moderate / higher labels describe our view of concern for typical household use, weighted by exposure and contact time. A label is a starting point for your own judgment, not a verdict on a brand.
We say when a product is fine
Most products do their job. Where a cleaner is effective and low-concern used as directed, we say so plainly. The goal is an honest read, not a scare.
Formulations change, and so do we
Manufacturers reformulate. We date our pages, check current labels, and correct promptly when a formula or a fact changes. Spot something out of date? Reply to any newsletter and tell us.
We disclose how we earn
Newfase is affiliated with Havenly and may earn when you buy products we recommend. That relationship never changes a verdict. See our full disclosure.
Trademarks & fair use
All product names, brand names, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Newfase references them for identification, commentary, comparison, and consumer-information purposes. Newfase is independent and is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any brand it covers, except where a relationship is disclosed (see disclosure).
